Does Your Company Need Promotional Products?

If you're like many businesses, you likely have to work to make your marketing dollars stretch. Brand awareness is key, so how do you get your brand and logo out there without breaking the bank? Promotional products.

The Rule of 7

Did you know that it takes multiple exposures to a brand before most customers will consider buying from you? The Rule of 7 is a marketing principle that states your prospects need to come across your brand at least seven times before they take action. That's why having one of your promo items on a customer's desk can go a long way to landing you the deal.

The gift that gives back to you

Who doesn't love a free gift?! Especially if it's useful!

By adding your logo to gift items your customers can regularly use, you're strengthening your brand's recognition and image.

According to the Promotional Products Association International (PPSI), 81% of people keep promotional items for more than a year. While 41% of those polled say they keep promotional items for 1 to 5 years. That adds up to a lot of exposure to your brand!

Low Cost Marketing

Which marketing avenue will get your the best ROI? A study by the Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI) found that promotional products are one of the most impactful and cost-effective ways to advertise. ASI found the cost per impression of promotional products can be as low as 1/10 of one cent. That's lower than nearly any other advertising medium. So, if you're on a tight budget promotional products might be your best avenue to your customers. To put it into context, TV commercials cost about $.007 per impression, more during prime time; while newspaper ads run about $.019 for each impression.

Make it Useful

The more useful the product, the longer it will stick around, and thus continue to promote your brand.

Half of all people who own promotional drinkware use it 2 to 3 times per week, according to ASI, and a whopping 91% of people who have gotten a promotional USB drive have hung onto it.

Make sure you keep usage and quality in mind when deciding what to hand out to potential customers. Water bottles and coffee cups are great because they can be used for years and carried everywhere-- meaning your brand is seen by even more people.

Pens are always useful, so are office supplies, USB drives and phone charging cords. Branded totes are another item most people report hanging onto. And ASI says t-shirts, polos and outerwear are among the items that are kept the longest, leading to the best RIO.

In the End…

When you're considering an investment in promotional products think of something that will make you money long after you've spent it to buy the item. What would you like to get from a company? And what would stick around on your desk for a long time?

When used correctly, promo products can increase brand awareness, strengthen your company's image and win customer loyalty.
